The potential to triumph even over incredible odds exists somewhere within all of us. But surely Olympian Anne Audain is one of the best examples ever in sports. After suffering through painful reconstructive surgery as a teenager to correct deformities in both feet, Anne soon became a champion runner first in her native New Zealand and ultimately as an Olympian and world record holder. After more than two decades ( 22 years) of competing, Anne has been even more active in retirement, founding the St. Luke's Women's Fitness Celebration in 1993 -- a fitness, running and educational event for women and girls that has grown into the largest female-only participatory sports event in the US. Few know that before Anne became an Olympian, world record holder and household name in running circles, she was a favorite in the classroom to grade school students in her Auckland, New Zealand school. Anne always wanted to teach because she believed in giving children the self-esteem necessary to reach their goals and dreams. Today she relies on her running experiences and other accomplishments to teach through her motivational speaking and other activities. Her speaking engagements include those at Indiana University, Purdue University, U of Evansville, Vincennes University, Case Western University, Delta Airlines, KeyBank, Pepsi Co., Nike Concept Stores and the Women's Sports Foundation. For more about her incredible story, please check out her website and look for the new documentary "Anne Audain: Running Her Way" (www.runningherway.net).
It is because of Anne's accomplishments, her incredible energy and her enthusiastic desire to inspire and motivate positive changes in the lives of young and old alike, that Clarus Institute has partnered with her as one of our first Ambassadors. With her guidance and direction, we plan to explore the possibilities and applications of our technology and Q-Link products for supporting positive changes and improved performance for runners, athletes and anyone and everyone who is concerned with living, learning and performing to their best potential.
